I tried so hard for so long to hold on to so many things, namely my sanity. Then one day I looked and it was no longer there. I tried to find it, I really did. In the end I think I even tried to take other people’s. So for a period of time, I just didn’t have any. I had to acquire a whole new one. And I guess that’s what this whole process has been about. The slow and painful return to a world where sanity is mandatory but where it’s rarely exercised.
