Chase is not like other dogs. He experiences the world differently. I know this because of the way we communicate with each other. It’s a secret language we’ve developed together, using a combination of words, hand and eye signals, thoughts, touch and smell.
We can detect changes in each other’s heart rates; for Chase that’s really important because he’s trained to give emotional support. It enables him to pick up on anxiety, fear and distress.
He’s very protective, always alerting me to danger and helping me stay focused when we’re walking together.
I love drawing and painting him, it’s another way of having him all around me in everything I do. I feel best when I’m close to him.
