This painting is one of three so far, a vertical polyptych. I started with the cosmos (Candy Station) and then progressed onto this one, a portal opened above the stratosphere with creatures escaping. The third panel (Sailors Beware) depicts a stormy ocean and sea creatures locked in battle with a ship caught in the crest of a wave.
In my exploration of polyptychs, I’ve found they’ve only extended horizontally and I was surprised by this. There’s so much more that can be done if they were vertical and the challenge I’ve set for myself is seeing how far they can go.
