Some of us experience a different world from others. Sounds can trigger bursts of light and colour. I’ve come to recognise how I can use this phenomenon to my advantage; certain sounds can create visual patterns and geometric shapes, spinning colours and dancing kaleidoscopes. Bursts of light and intense colours tend to stimulate corresponding sounds and I’ve learned how to harness this so that I can “look” at music and “see” symphonies across a spectrum.

This is what we call synesthesia.
