When I’m overloaded, my mind is cluttered; thoughts are unfinished, and sentences are forgotten before I can speak them. I try to do my breathing exercises and calm down. There’s also a listening exercise I practice where I try to single out and identify 10 different things I can hear. This helps me to re-tune. And I try to think about calming places like this one.
It’s an ocean somewhere. I close my eyes and I can hear the waves crashing gently. I can smell the salt. I’m standing in the water and feeling it swaying me. It’s warm. I’m not in my body anymore, I’m something else and I feel peace.
