In science, the Doppler Effect is defined as a noticeable change in the frequency of sound, light or water waves as both the source and the observer move. I’ve been living with the Doppler Effect my whole life, for me it’s the source of sensory overload.

Using oil pastels washed in white spirit, I imagined a distant city where it’s not clear if the observer is moving closer to or away from the source of the sounds.
